Phoenix Gayles, Soprano, has been noted for her “transcendent” vocal quality and warm personality. Receiving her Bachelors and Masters Degrees from the University of South Florida under the direction of Dr. Warren Jaworski and renowned soprano Stella Zambalis, Miss Gayles has been seen in a variety of leading roles across the nation. Most recently, Phoenix was last seen on Loveland Opera Theatres stage performing the role of The Fairy Godmother in Cinderella, Fiordiligi in Cosi Fan Tutte, the title role in The Merry Widow, Mrs Ford in The Merry Wives of Windsor and Mabel in the Pirates of Penzance. Phoenix has also recently been seen on the Boulder Opera stage in the roles of Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni, Micaela in Carmen and Mimi in La Boheme. In the summer of 2019 she debuted a new opera that premiered in Gunnison, “Lottie Silks” in the role of Adele and also co-created a brand new summer music camp for young adults with Maestro Music Institute. Outside of Colorado, Phoenix performed Nella in Gianni Schicchi with Opera project Columbus and was praised very highly for her performance of Micaela with the Sherrill Milnes Voice Experience in their production of Carmen. Phoenix has also been seen on the stages of companies like Opera Tampa, St Petersburg Opera and New Century Opera in a variety of mainstage roles, outreach programs and young artist programs. She won second place in the Denver Lyric Opera Guild Vocal competition and 2nd place in the Regionals for the MET National Council Auditions. 1st place winner of the Suncoast Opera Guild Competition and a semi-finalist in the Jenny Lind Vocal Competition. Since moving to Colorado, Phoenix has become a touring artist for Central City Opera, a concert soloist for Colorado Springs Philharmonic and Arapahoe Philharmonic and has a very prominent voice and piano studio both privately and with Sollohub Musicand Maestro Music Institute. In addition to Miss Gayles’s vocal performances, she has also become both a stage director and production director for several different companies. Recently taking on the role of Special Programs Director for Maestro Music, Phoenix has enjoyed creating fun and engaging programs for the next generation of classical singers and performing artists.
